Det fælles løfte er formuleret af netværket London Funders, der består af fonde og andre velgørende organisationer fra den britiske hovedstad. Netværket har særlig fokus på støtte til civilsamfundsorganisationer.

Løftet indeholder fire ‘nøgleforpligtelser’, som underskriverne binder sig til.
Første forpligtelse handler om at justere aftalerne mellem fonde og bevillingsmodtagere for at tage hensyn til, at tidsplanerne for at gennemføre de støttede projekter kan vise sig at være urealistiske.
Anden forpligtelse skal give bevillingsmodtagere mere tid til f.eks. at afrapportere om aktiviteter.
Tredje forpligtelse skal sikre støtte til bevillingsmodtagere til uforudsete udgifter til f.eks. udstyr og personale.
Fjerde forpligtelse understreger, at fondene skal gå i dialog med bevillingsmodtagerne og lytte til deres behov.
Indtil videre er det fælles løfte blevet underskrevet af omkring 150 organisationer fra både London og resten af Storbritannien. Alle medunderskrivere skal overholde forpligtelserne, imens Storbritannien håndterer virusudbruddet.
